  1. Do you require a deposit to book a charter? Yes, we require a deposit of $250 per day. This is done via sending an e-transfer to  dpmacgillivrayfisheries@gmail.com.
  2. What is your cancellation policy? If you cancel with 30+ days before your charter we will refund half of  your deposit via an e-transfer. We cannot offer any refunds past this point in time due to our limited booking season.
  3. What happens if there is bad weather? We will try to find a new date depending on availability. We always put your safety first when making these decisions.
  4. What assurance do I have that we will hook a tuna? As is the case with all manner of sports fishing we cannot guarantee catching a fish.  That said we bring years of experience, hundreds of successful sails and the best equipment to make it as likely as possible that you will get to hook a fish.
  5. When does the tuna charter season begin? The season begins Sept 1st and goes until mid-october depending on the weather.
  6. What should I bring? You will need to bring waterproof clothing and footwear as well as warm clothes underneath. We also suggest a warm toque and sunglasses and your camera!  We do provide food and drink during the charter but bringing your own snacks is fine.
  7. Do you provide life jackets and other safety measures? Yes, each passenger is provided a life vest and we are also equipped with a life raft. Our charter meets and exceeds all the the requirements of Transport Canada.
  8. How many people can join a charter? We are allowed up to 5 guests on our boat plus crew.
  9. Can I book for multiple days? Yes, in fact we strongly suggest a multi-day booking to ensure the highest possible chance of catching a tuna.
  10.  How much does a charter cost? We are not allowed to share our pricing on our website as part of our membership in the Tuna Charters Nova Scotia Association, we ask that you please call 1-902-872-1479 for pricing enquiries.
  11. What kinds of sea life might I see on the journey?  You might get to see a broad range of creatures: Gannets (sea birds), seals, whales, bald eagles, porpoises have all been common sights during our charters.
  12. When does the charter start and how long does it last? Our charters typically begin at 6am last approximately 8 hours.
